Guess what? I am famous. You may ask, how do I know this? Well, famous people are asked for their autograph. I have been asked for my autograph. Therefore, I am famous. You see? In fact, I have been asked for my autograph FOUR TIMES.
...All these autographs may have been shyly requested by little 6è girls coming up to me after class with pen and copybook in hand, but still, it's something, right? :D
3è are a little harder to impress. After their initial surprise over the fact that I am a real-life American, they quickly moved on to asking whether I had ever met a celebrity. My story of once being on the same airplane as the band Jet fails to impress about 50 percent of the time.
But despite 3è's lack of enthusiasm about my celebrity sighting, I do have an odd level of recognition within the school. I may be passing by a clump of students waiting outside their next class, and hear whispers of "l'américaine" or have students go out of their way to holler "'ello, Mélissa!" across the schoolyard when I arrive in the morning. Though this has somewhat tempered over time to the usual level of Bonjours and Hellos from students as I pass them in the hallway that the other teachers get, it still hasn't entirely gone away.
In other news, I would like to quickly mention my new favorite yummy food. Speculoos spread. OMG. Speculoos cookies are delicious, but the spread....oh, the spread. Personally, I prefer it to Nutella. I know some might find this shocking that I dare place something above King Nutella...but I must. I've been eating this stuff by the spoonful while writing this post. Really I should stop....just one more spoonful..YUM <3
