Counting

The most common thing I've been hearing lately has been “How excited are you to be going to France? It's getting close now, right?” Well, yes and no. For awhile, it hardly seemed real. And it's hard to feel excited about something when it doesn't feel like it's actually happening. Opening up the manila envelope from the Académie helped it sink in a little further, but it was still nearly two months away, I hadn't even booked a ticket yet. But now I have plane ticket, my visa will be ready in a couple days, and all this week I've been thinking about how it's only a month away now. If you're counting by the day of the month, the one-month marker was yesterday, but if you're a four-weeks equals a month kind of a person the one-month countdown begins tomorrow. Either way, you can maybe tell I've been obsessing.

So now that that countdown has begun, or will begin, I've got some more day counts that will outline my life from now to France:

In 2 days my visa will be ready.
But it will be 6 days before I can drive to the consulate to go pick it up.
Because in 1 day I will be flying to Chicago.
On the cusp of 5 days I will be arriving back at the Houston airport just before midnight.
So that I can make it to my internship the next morning which will be ending in 23 days.
In 29 days I will board a one-way, nonstop flight to France
And in 30 days I will land at Charles de Gaulle airport.
In 38 days it will be my official start date as a language assistant.

Honestly, I hadn't counted up those last few ones until I decided to write this, and wow, this has helped make it feel really...real.

I'M GOING TO FRANCE!

:D
